folks, I've got a mobo with the nforce2 chipset. I use the onboard lan. I installed Fedora Core 1. Ethernet was not working though. I then installed the NVidia nforce2 drivers from source. After a reboot, Kudzu (Fedora/RH hardware manager) then detected the ethernet card and configured it. It worked.

If you use 2.6.7, make sure you install 2.6.7 ALSA driver package (it comes with the distribution) and to uninstall the same package for 2.4.26. Some people forget to do that.
